Google has largely replaced postcard verification with a short video walkthrough. If your profile isn’t verified this way yet, it’s worth handling now.
Postcards Are Out, Video Walkthroughs Are In
As of July 3, 2026, Google’s video verification process is fully in effect for most Google Business Profiles. Instead of waiting on a mailed postcard with a code, business owners now record a short video walking through their location to confirm the business is real and operating where it says it is.
Profiles that aren’t verified, or that get flagged for re-verification, risk being pulled from Google Search and Google Maps until the video is submitted and approved.
Check Your Verification Status Today
- Log into your Google Business Profile and check your verification status.
- If you’re asked to verify by video, the process is a short walkthrough of your business location, showing signage, entrances, and anything that confirms you’re operating there.
- Don’t ignore a re-verification request. A profile that drops out of Search and Maps stops sending you calls and directions until it’s fixed.
If you’re not sure whether your profile is affected, having someone who already manages your website check the account is a fast way to find out, faster than digging through Google’s help pages alone.
